This will be little different kind of entry as it relates to both hope and despair but then variety is spice of life and hope springs from the state of despair. This blog doesn’t belong to audience of a particular country but still if some posts talk about my country’s situation, other people can read between the lines and learn something for sure.
While in office, we all discuss about the issues like terrorism, suicide bombers and the disgusting law and order situation of our city and country at large. It does make you think about lot of things.
Firstly this suicide bombing scene is insane. You can’t solve this issue by security because the bomb blast will happen whatever you do. It can only be resolved by creating awareness and changing the mindset of extremists. If you can’t change it, just trash them and most importantly their sick ideology in front of people’s eyes.
As we know by some three or four instances that got reported, even people who are suited try to get a lift in the car and then ask you to crash the car against any police mobile. After such instances, people have gotten so afraid that they won’t even give lift to the elderly people. Not only elderly but who actually need that lift. We have become selfish and insensitive for sure. I mean you know that elderly person won’t harm you but you also don’t want to risk your life. We are living in a state of fear. Fear is the line between despair and hope. Either you cross that line and be positive in presence of evident negativity. I am not telling that we should trust everyone but we can surely be wise.
We were thinking that when Lahore blast happened, people would have respond more calmly because they aren’t used to such panic. Here we karachites learn this lesson when they are born, just run when something bad happens. Where is the responsibility element for God’s sake? Even that was missing in tv channels especially GEO TV which showed disturbing visuals. It isn’t about age, all this contributes even more to hatred and fear. News can be delivered without creating or showing such menace.
We all need to think how we are living. We need to be more sensitive, less selfish, wise and informed and above all responsible.
I CONDEMN ANY TYPE OF EXTREMISM WHAT SO EVER! I HOPE YOU ALSO DO! AND THIS IS NOT ABOUT RELIGION PLEASE. THIS IS ABOUT LACK OF HUMAN TENDENCIES WHICH CAN BE IN ANY STUPID MIND OF ANY RELIGION FOLLOWING NO RELIGION AT ALL.

There is not a clash of religions as such, but there is the religious element involved. Even when it is distorted. I don’t think you can characterize them as stupid. While, I do not myself truly understand the processes which lead to this brainwashing, how can a stupid mind contemplate death, embrace it?
Trashing their ideology is of no use. You trash. They trash. How does it help? By creating awareness? yes I agree. Or understanding.
I don’t know if I agree with you or understand when you say showing news “without showing disturbing visuals”. How else do you present the full effect of the tragedy? Do you want them all to turn into PTVs? Responsibility is a very vague term, can be very broadly interpreted. Define it.
Anyway, keep hoping! Like the idea behind your blog.
Hira, again I would say it is not clash of religions but politically rived selfishness. I think more than religious motives, these people are just gambling lives of so many people for their selfish gains. I would never support a person who brainwashes and I would also condemn the brainwashed to some extent because you can’t be suicidal if you respect your humane life.
I am a big believer in diversity and pluralism but if you say that support or respect something which I know will harm others then you gotta take a stand. Spread awareness at least so that people themselves will start realizing that this isn’t right.
You can tell ALL the truth. You don’t need to SHOW it ALL. It is better to convey the message in such a way that it doesn’t create MORE havoc. Here in Pakistan, they are after who breaks the news and who has the most sensationalized reporting. That is what broadcasting should be.
The only thing I wanted to say was 1. Don’t support such ideologies and condemn these blasts. 2. Remain humane and help others when you know they won’t harm you. 3. Be Positive and Hopeful!
Thank you so much for your comments. Love the interaction.
Yes, I do agree with you that there are politically motivated people present. As for those who are brainwashed, when you’ve lost everything, everyone, why would you even care for the lives of others, you would want revenge, wouldn’t you?
Yes, I agree, there is a need to condemn. But who to condemn? These young lads of 15, 16, 17 or more are Pakistanis too, and I think we have to look at what is causing this all. We, as a country, are acting as bounty hunters for a foreign power. And though things are far more complex than that, there is a strong resentment. Coz its our people dying. Not theirs. I don’t want these people to be arrested, without trial, undergoing torture or something. The way, the so-called terrorists are dealt with. But yes, awareness, as you said.
Yes, I agree with those three points you make.
Somehow i missed the point. Probably lost in translation
Anyway … nice blog to visit.
cheers, Boleyn
